Teenagers: 1920s VS. Today
Today's youth and the youth of the 1920s are actually not all that different. In the 1920s, flappers wore "short" skirts (skirts to or slightly above the knee) and today most girls wear skirts that barely cover their butts. Both generations of teenagers listen to music that their parents dissapprove of; in the 1920s it was jazz and today it is either rap or metal. Also, teens in the 1920s and teens today dance very close together and smoke and drink as they please. Makeup on the girls, then and now, is heavier than it has been in previous generations. I don't believe there are many major differences between the two generations; however, I do believe the teens today are much more badly behaved than the teens of previous generations. The behavior of teenagers has seemed to be on a downward slope ever since the 1920s, which I find very disturbing. I don't know if there is hope for the future generations, but isn't hope all that is left?
